At Palermo Physio and Wellness in North Oakville we love learning! Our Physiotherapists, Massage Therapist, Yoga Therapist and Chiropodist often take additional courses as well as education within our clinic. This past week and weekend has involved a lot of continuing education.
Oakville Physio’s Tim and Claire were both away this weekend taking courses. Tim has successfully completed his level 1 acupuncture! Physiotherapists can use anatomical acupuncture to help supplement our treatment of sports injuries, arthritis, back pain, and nerve pain. It is not something we always do or suggest necessarily but provide some flexibility in Physio treatment options. If you’re interested in Acupuncture as a treatment option you can always discuss this with your Physiotherapist.
Claire has completed another weekend of her manual therapy levels. These levels offer additional feedback on hands-on skills as well as problem solving skills and case studies. This allows her to put this new knowledge and skill into her Physiotherapy practice right away.
Massage Education (RMT)!
Oakville Massage Therapist Sarah has recently completed additional courses in TMJ treatment as well as Pre-Natal massage.
Most recently, last week Registered Massage Therapist Josephine began her training in Paediatric Massage Therapy. This is in-class Massage training will be followed by 6 months of self-study. Josephine is looking forward to working with more Paediatric Patients and their guardians!
Yoga Therapy Education!
Oakville based Yoga Therapist Jennifer loves continuing to further her Yoga and Yoga Therapy knowledge. She loves the practical application of her knowledge working with anyone from athletes and runners to those recovering from surgeries and strokes, to people with neuromuscular issues such as Parkinsons. Yoga Therapy helps empower a person through movement in gaining mindfulness, strength, flexibility, and balance.
