As “Early Flu Season for 2014” warnings start to ring out in news reports we start to become even more aware of hand hygiene and the newest proper sneezing technique. As a Physiotherapist working in a medical building  (Palermo Professional Centre), as well as with some higher risk individuals, I am choosing to get a flu shot. Getting a flu shot is a lot easier to do these days with Family Doctors, Walk-In Clinics and Pharmacies all stocking and providing flu shots. It’s recommended by the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) that if you work with high risk populations or interact with someone who is considered high risk. The CDC has an information sheet regarding the flu for the 2014 season. Click here to find the CDC’s recommendations for proper handwashing techniques. This can help protect you from illness as well as stop the spread of germs.

Many people have concerns regarding the perceived risks is getting a flu shot. It is important to discuss the risks and benefits for your particular case with your family doctor.
