Happy March Break – 2017!

This is a great time for play and fun! Many from the Oakville community have left for warmer vacation spots. For those of us left, there’s a lot that can be done around Oakville, Milton and Burlington! Our Physiotherapists encourage everyone to take a break from technology, get active, and get outside.

March Break Ideas For the Family…

Bronte Creek Male Syrup Festival:

Visit Bronte Creek Provincial Park throughout March Break to partake in the annual Maple Syrup festival. Enjoy a guided tour of Maple lane, learn how maple syrup is made, taste delicious maple taffy and visit the various farm animals. Visit Spruce Lane Farmhouse, a living history museum that recreates life from 1899. Don’t forget to try the pancakes from the Pancake House before purchasing some syrup to take home. The festival is open 9:30am to 3:00pm daily during March Break. Enjoy a hike through the numerous trails in Bronte Creek while you are there. See http://brontecreek.org/index.php/the-park/featured-events/maple-festival.html for more details.

Tim Horton’s Free Swim in Milton

Tim Horton’s has partnered with local community pools across the country to offer free swimming during the month of March. Head to the Milton Leisure Centre this week (Monday – Friday) from 2:00pm – 3:30pm to enjoy free swimming with the family. Alternatively, Oakville community centres have added more open swim times to their schedule during March Break. This is a great opportunity to move and get active. Arien, our Oakville Foot Specialist (Chiropodist), says to remember to wear your flip flops on the pool deck and in the change rooms!

Skating

Enjoy Winter activities with the family before Spring arrives. Although outdoor rinks in Oakville are now closed for the season, local community centres have lots of public skating times available during March Break.

Tobogganing and Skiing

With the forecasted dump of snow arriving in Halton early this week, get outdoors and enjoy Winter. Head to a local hill and go tobogganing with the family or jump on the skis at Glen Eden. Alternatively, get outdoors and build a snowman!
